HISTORY OF THE
U.S. ARMY CADET CORPS

The U.S. Army Cadet Corps is a direct decendant of the American Cadet Alliance which traces it's history to April 10, 1909 when the Colonel Cody's Boy Scouts was formed.
Since then, the Corps has continued to grow through a series of alliances with other programs,each time resulting in a stronger Cadet Corps.
The organization came full circle on September 15, 1960,
when the American Nautical Alliance, Inc. and the Maritime Brigade, Inc.
merged to become the American Cadet Alliance, Inc.
At one time the U.S. Army Cadet Corps had up to 21,000 Cadets in the city of New York and a nationwide total of 24,000;
however, in the 1960's the Corps suffered major losses due to the Vietnam War
and the death of several key officers in the program.
Veterans of the Corps, include senior military officers, public officials and business leaders.
All members of the U.S. Army Cadet Corps, past and present,
have the common bond of pride in their country and a strong belief in its founding principles.
We are now have units in 15 states, Puerto Rico and Spain.
We are the only nationwide Cadet Organization to be soley Army
